Finals Week

Just finished (mostly) studying for my Women's Studies final tomorrow. I successfully crammed 1,319 words - 4 essay outlines - onto one sheet of 8.5 by 11 piece of computer paper. That is something to celebrate.

Once I take that exam, I'm finished for the year. Well, kinda.

I failed Stat this spring (in a sense), so I'm stuck here again this summer. I really wanted job experience this summer - I had one all lined up at the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore - but sadly David Banks decided to generously give me a D+ for my midterm grade. So I'm here. Again. Taking the most boring, most confusing subject of all time.

But once I'm done THAT, I will get the change I've been wishing for in Cape Town. At this point, I may be getting way more than I bargained for, but I think Cape Town is what I need. It's halfway across the world, full of fascinating new people, sights, cultures, food, style, and politics. Granted, it has one of the highest violent crime rates in the world (trust me - I wrote a ten page essay on which political party I would theoretically vote for if I was a South African citizen. I know the political issues.), but nonetheless I'm excited. I'm nervous as hell, but hopefully the experience is worth it.

I definitely could have chosen to romp around Europe, funneling money away towards Western cultural enrichment. But growing up in a Western culture, full of Western ideals, South Africa will be truly a learning experience. God save my white, blond ass.
